AGENCY Recap: Day One
Day 1: Sunday
In an unknown location…
Fox McCloud discovers he has been kidnapped by a group calling themselves The Nine. They are interested in McCloud’s unique war vessel, the Landmaster (or its blueprints), which have no equal on their planet. Fox, however, refuses to help them.
His assigned interrogator— a young man named Static— enjoys beating him senseless but personally thinks there’s no point in keeping him or his son around if they refuse to cooperate. Hopper, a father-figure colleague, reminds him that defying the bosses’ decisions and asking questions could get him in serious trouble.
A bit later…
On her way to pick up the agent she hastily selected, Krystal starts to fear that the stress of the situation is causing her to hear things. She pushes that aside to meet with Sandy Cheeks— a young genius that Krystal believed could help find the Blue Marine faster with her experience in marine exploration. Krystal explains that Fox could have been kidnapped and they may have used his identity to take the Marine, so finding the vessel might lead to him.
Krys also reveals that she hired a bodyguard for her, not having known about Sandy’s incredible martial arts prowess. Sandy meets her appointed bodyguard, Shadow, in the worst way one could introduce themselves to her: stepping in to fight her battle.
After the smoke cleared and formal introductions were out of the way, more evidence that Krystal was not in her right mind started to pop up. This causes her enough unease to make her reach out to her doctor about a past ailment she fears might be returning.
Back with Fox…
Marcus is revealed to be sort of estranged from his father. He had immediately assumed that Fox took him away from his mother forcefully. However, Fox shows how much he prioritizes his son’s safety by picking a fight with the massive landshark Rufus so that Marc could make a getaway.
The boy makes it far enough into the alleyways to bump into a young aardvark girl named D.W. who was running from a wild Pikachu, and a teen pup that seemed to be a homeless youth. The teen tried to help them, but instead became a witness to kidnapping after Rufus and one other Nine member caught up to them. He escaped by the skin of his teeth, but Marcus and D.W. were not so lucky.
As soon as they kids were brought back, The Nine were already packing up and getting set to move their hideout, since they had let a witness get away and couldn’t afford police combing the area. Rufus stayed behind to find the boy and hopefully redeem himself before it was too late.
On the road back to the city…
At the same time Marcus was caught, Krystal had a meltdown on the cab ride home, spouting what sounds like nonsense to the rest of the passengers. Meï has them all split up so that she can focus on getting Krystal medical attention and Shadow escorts Sandy through the city to meet the detectives.
The pair have a difficult time settling on a truce, but before their argument could escalate, the teen pup comes running by. When they hear Rufus coming down the alleyway in chase, they take him to safety. The night ends with Rufus barely missing the group, lamenting over his fate when “Superior” finds out...
